dc.description.abstract Batteries with high specific energy densities increasingly attract attention as potential energy sources for electric vehicles (EV). Lithium-air batteries are the most promising system because of their theoretical specific energy density much higher than conventional batteries. However, there is (still) no technical basis to support high energy density estimated from the calculation. The article discusses the current state of lithium-air (or lithium-oxygen), and their future prospects, with emphasis on materials. en_US
