Abstract:
The introductory speech at the round table dealing with the first Russian occupation,
two centuries ago, of the eastern part of the territory of Moldova situated between the rivers
Prut and Dniester, emphasized the following aspects:
‐ The importance of the commemoration of this event in Paris, this city playing a
particular role in mass-media and information circulation.
‐ The role of France in south-east Europe starting with the Napoleon’s wars, which
obliged Russia to limit its expansionists projects, till nowadays when several countries of the
area, including Moldova and Romania, are members of the “l’Organisation Internationale de
la Francophonie - OIF”.
