dc.description.abstract | The digitisation of cultural heritage is a priority area in the European Union. This task require a close collaboration between researchers in humanities and computer scientists. The paper presents our effort to create a a training set of recognized handwritten text. To this mean we propose an online game with a purpose (GWAP). This is a human-based computing technique in which some stages of a computational process are transmitted to humans in a form of an online game. The input of the game is a line of handwritten text and the user have to type in its transcription. We investigated how to make this in an attractive and enthralling way in order to involve more users and obtain a large set of transcribed texts. | en_US |
