Abstract:
A unique feature of the COVID-19 pandemic is that it has spread very rapidly to every
corner of the world. Trying to slow down the spread of the virus, but also forced by circumstances,
we all experienced a boost to the online environment. Consequently, the images of the online social
media, as artifacts produced through a transformative involvement of bodily and socio-cultural
practices, commented on current events, to debate social issues or to support various causes. Starting
from the study conducted by Dumitrița Holdiș in 2019 which claims that Romania is a Facebook
country, we conducted this study that takes into account the most popular Facebook pages in
Romania. Not surprisingly, they belong to the "already-stars" who, from the perspective of the digital
environment, can also be categorized as "influencers". The pages of the Media Pro trust were
excluded from this study, which focuses more on the operation of the individual and on his own image
production than on that of a community. The images were collected using the SocialBakers and
Popsters platform.
