dc.description.abstract | Transport safety of the passengers, small direct human intervention upon road traffic and driving, high degree of complexity in automotive development and software programs, the occurrence of system failures, little or no control allowed from un-authorized personnel are just a few of the new aspects and risks when someone is travelling by robotic car. In this paper, there are considered, on the one hand, the benefits and the advantages of this specific type of development in the automotive sector, benefits consisting in more leisure time, relax mode, rest, sleep, read, writing during travel, and on the other hand, some treats and risks of autonomous driving by robotic vehicles, such as system failures, virus attacks and remote hacking. Giving the situation design staff must investigate graphical sketches, models and test results of automated robotic cars in order to show their faults and possible vulnerabilities. Only by serious applied research, the responsible designers will be able to find and create the requested mitigating circumstances. | en_US |
