Abstract:
Research and observations were made over a period of five years (2005-2009) on 835 Romanian Spotted cow breed and their crossbreed. Squamous cell carcinoma was identified in 25 cattle in different ocular locations: in 3 cases the growth started from the sclerocorneal junction, in 4 cases carcinoma development was on the bulbar conjunctiva, and in 5 cases the starting point was on the third lid. The emergence and development of tumors was recorded during the entire year with an extra in spring and autumn periods. Further development in five of the cases resulted in blindness. The surgery was accomplished using electrocautery ablation for small and medium - sized tumors, or with surgical removal combined with eye enucleation in eight of the cases. After surgical removal, recurrences occurred within 1-2 years in 3 cattle
