dc.description.abstract The research has been centered on anatomic-pathological modifications in the gastrointestinal tract of the sheep infested with Strongyloides. The degree of affection of the gastric and intestinal mucosa was determined using macroscopic (necropsies) and microscopic (histopathological) examinations of the collected pathological samples. At the same time helminthoscopic investigations of the intestinal content of the spontaneously infected young sheep were also performed. The antiparasitic drugs Levamisole, Pandex and Aversect were tested to determine the degree of their effectiveness in treating gastrointestinal strongyloidosis and their immunomodulatory and recuperative effect on the tissues affected by parasites. The results of the research show that the massive infestation of the sheep by Strongyloides causes serious modifications of mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract, the formation of parasitic granulomas and the appearance of an immune reaction of the host organism. All the anthelmintics that were administered prove high efficacy against the parasitic agents. Levamisole administered at a dose of 1ml/10kg bw has also a high immunomodulatory effect .
