Abstract:
A good part of the real estate in Chisinau included in the Register of Monuments of the Republic of Moldova is ruined day by day. About 80% of protected buildings require emergency rehabilitation, conservation and restoration. Every year, on average, an architectural monument disappears in the historical area of the capital, according to the data of the Monuments Inspection and Restoration Agency. In the last 14 years, more than 100 monuments have been demolished, of which 43 are historical landmarks in the period 2006–2012, according to several nongovernmental organizations. What the historical heritage of the center of Chisinau looks like today we will try to describe in this article.
