dc.description.abstract The living room is one of the most important rooms in a house, it is the place where the family meets and performs many functions. This is the central room of the house. Originally intended for welcoming guests, but now, given the small size of modern apartments, it has become a multifunctional space. The aim of the paper is to condition the role and importance of this space in interior design. The main objectives are: studying the history of appearance and development over the years, the typology of living rooms, recommendations for developing a salon according to ergonomic rules using new technologies and solutions, the multiple possibilities of combining colors, textures and materials, etc. Being one of the indoor spaces where the human factor spends most of the day, whether studying, relaxing, playing sports or any other activity. en_US
